August 13th, 2008 - KEN MCKENNA WINS PRIMARY RACE by 261 VOTES - Article published in the Reno Gazette Journal reprinted below: Former Washoe County School Board member Jonnie Pullman and Reno attorney Ken McKenna will face each other in the general election for the state Board of Education's District 8 seat representing Reno. Throughout Tuesday's primary, Pullman and McKenna had a tight race, with retiree Michael Caldwell coming in a distant third. With 81 percent of the returns in from Washoe County, McKenna had 8,989 votes to Pullman's 8,728 and Caldwell's 4,843. "I feel grateful that the voters have voted for me and I look forward to campaigning on the issues," Pullman said. McKenna said expects an "interesting race" against Pullman leading up to the Nov. 4 general election. "I'm excited about people supporting my ideas for change and shaking up the fundamentals of education in Nevada to make it better," he said.
